What to do
Reading a page collects nothing
No analytics, no tag manager, no tracking pixel, no session recorder, no advertising network. Pages are static files. Nothing about your visit is stored by this site.
Search stays on this server
The search box sends your query to this site's own domain. It is answered by a search index running on the same machine that serves the pages. Your query is not sent to any other company.
Translation sends the page to Google
Choosing a language other than English loads Google Translate and passes the page you are reading to Google, along with your IP address. On this site that page may name a procedure or a denial. Google's handling is governed by Google's privacy policy, not this one.
Translation is off until you turn it on
The Google script is not loaded when a page opens. It loads only when you open the language menu. If you never open it, this site makes no request to Google at all.
Turning it back off
Choose English from the same menu. That clears the translation cookie and reloads the page in English.
What the server records
The web server keeps ordinary access logs: the page requested, a timestamp, your IP address, and your browser's user-agent string. That is how nearly every web server on the internet works, and it is what makes it possible to notice an outage or an attack. These logs are not linked to any identity and are not shared.
The search endpoint is rate-limited by IP address to keep it available. That check happens in memory and is not written to a profile.
What this site does not have
There is no account system, no login, no newsletter, no contact form, and no database of readers. There is nothing to breach, because there is nothing collected. The templates on this site are filled in on your own device or on paper; nothing you type into one is transmitted anywhere.
What this site cannot protect
Your browser history, your device, your network, and anyone with access to them are outside anything this site controls. So is the fact that the domain name appears in your address bar and browsing history. If that matters for your situation, a private window and a device you control are worth more than anything a website can offer you.
Links out
This site links to other organisations — advocacy groups, regulators, legal-aid resources. Following a link takes you to their site, under their policies. The site sets a no-referrer policy, so those destinations are not told which page you came from.
Common questions
- Does this site use cookies?
- Only two, and only if you act. A theme preference if you switch between light and dark, and a Google translation cookie if you choose a language. Neither identifies you, and neither is set on a first visit.
- Can I use the site without involving Google at all?
- Yes. Do not open the language menu. The Google script is loaded on demand, so if you never open it, no request to Google is made.
- Is my search query private?
- It goes to this site's own server and its own search index, and no further. It is not sent to Google or any other search company.
